Your key unlocks the whole crew.

Where your key comes from

After you buy, an email titled "Your Desktop Crew license key" goes to the address you used at checkout, usually within a few minutes. The key is one long line that starts with DC1-. If you don't see it, check your spam or promotions folder. Still nothing after an hour? Write to support from the address you used, and we'll send it again.

Entering your key

1. Right-click the Desktop Crew icon in the Windows tray (bottom right, by the clock; it may be under the ^ arrow).
2. Choose "Free trial: … Keep the crew…" during the trial, or "Bring the whole crew back…" after it.
3. Under "Already bought it? Enter your key", paste the whole key, starting with DC1-.
4. Click "Unlock the crew". The tray then says "Licensed to" and your name.

The whole crew comes back with everything they remember. The key is checked on your PC only: the app never sends it anywhere, and there's no activation server.

"That key doesn't look right"

• Copy the whole key, from DC1- to the last character. Spaces and line breaks from the email are fine.
• Still stuck? Write to support@desktopcrew.app with a screenshot of the "Keep the crew" window and your diagnostics (tray > More > "Copy diagnostics (for support)"). Diagnostics never include your key.

Lost your key, or the email never came

Write to support@desktopcrew.app from the email you bought with (or tell us that address), and we'll send the same key again.

A new PC

Install Desktop Crew and paste your key from the email. Your crew's memories come along too: Desktop Crew keeps a weekly backup in Documents\Desktop Crew\Backups, and a new install that finds it offers to bring the crew back (how). Or quit Desktop Crew on the old PC, copy the folder %APPDATA%\desktop-crew to the same place on the new one, then install and start it: your key comes along in that folder.

The name on your key

Your key carries the name you gave at checkout, and the tray shows it as "Licensed to …". To have a different name on it, write to support and we'll make you a new key.
